seekers report 9382348-AZ9

After traveling for what seemed like days across a vast and desolate landscape I arrived at the ruins that had been described in the intel from this very site as containing the next mission, and the priceless artifacts for those who brave enough to accept the challenge. I noted that the weather had been kind to todays expedition as i found an entrance to the large stone structure. Upon entering I found that other seekers had already beaten me to this location and were sitting around discussing the new creatures and devices that they would soon use in an attempt to solve the puzzle of Rhode's clock, other seekers seemed to be engaged in what they called dueling, apparently some were not here to find treasure but to duel one another.
Eventually the time came to attempt the mission the head seeker provided everyone with a pair of mission cards, 5 boosters and what appeared to be some form of sleeveless covering which i am informed is referred to as a t-shirt although what purpose it served during the mission was never explained. My boosters contained what seemed like fewer foils than some had managed to obtain but all but 1 or 2 seemed useful for the mission we were about to undertake everyone seemed pleased with the power level of these new cards and in the end i decided on a 25 card deck paying 12 minor heros 8 major heros and 5 actions, possibly a few more than was necessary but the ratio seemed about right.
It took some time for us to determine how the pendulum worked then we began the first round

Round 1 Ben
Ben seemed tired and not particular interested in playing we had got to round 2 before he decided he did not want to play anymore, I asked to look at his deck and then helped him improve it in the hope that that would make him more interested. meanwhile others were finding that the mission was rather restrictive and they couldn't do much as soon as the pendulum was in their zones which was due to a rules mix up so we decided to restart the round. Again we played till round 2 Ben deck seemed much more streamlined but he still seemed really tired and again decided to stop playing, we sat and watched the game next to us as it appeared it was going to be quite interesting.
1-0
round 1 - part 2
On the table to my left Nathan and Jack were locked in a fierce battle Jack pushed the advantage and controlled most of the board but Nathan always managed to throw up some roadblocks to stop him getting into zone 5 and Jack never found the time to push the pendulum back towards Nathan's side of the field still a good game and both would be tough opponents.
Round 2 Aaron
we both mullganed 2 which improved my hand quite a bit and by round 2 my creatures were hurtling upfield towards his starting zones. when i finally got a chance to play Shauna i found he had 2 minors and a major in his hand i ditched an action to get rid of the more dangerous minor but knew the major was going to cause problems. Aaron pushed his way back down the field making an opening for the major although for some reason he now only had 1 card in his had, thats odd we both commented as it turned out the major had disappeared without a trace, weird. i took my turn while Aaron looked for it eventually Jack asked if the Dante he had found was it luckily it was, the weird though though was jack was sitting miles away and neither of us had seen the card escape. Returned to its rightful place in Aaron's hand dante hit the table and started smashing things up left and right with his amazing ability In the next round i played an evil hero with the same ability as dante and did to dante what he had done to one of my majors at this point the game turned back in my favor and i went on to win.
2-0
Round 3 Nathan
I again was forced to muligan and ended up with an ok hand there was a lot of strategic maneuvering in the first 2 rounds but not much else happened. in round 3 i could tell Nathan was setting up for the win at the start of turn 4 which i thought seemed a little odd at the time as i was going first next round. As it turned out he had forgotten that and round 4 turned in my favor unfortunately i lost my concentration as so often happens at this point of a tournament and made a silly mistake which let him take the game
2-1
round 4 Ryan
The chances were pretty high that i would have to play Ryan next he even predicted it before the round, both of us knew that if Nathan went on to take his game this was going to be for second place and both of us really wanted to come in the top 2, the stage was set of an epic battle. i scraped a few points though in the early rounds only for Ryan to pull things back mid game with a host of creatures that got more effective if there controller had no cards in hand, a number of clever combat tricks and no card hands from him left me in a bad spot but as the score was tied round six came along and i managed to get the pendulum back into his zone 2 and protect it which would prevent Ryan from moving it in round 7, winning me the game by 1 very close point.
3-1
As it turned out nathan lost his game which put a number of us on the same countback and forced a top 4
Top 4 Nathan
A chance to make up for earlier in the day as i had to play Nathan again my first play was to drop a Shauna taking out what would have been a very irritating action and while the game was by no means easy from that point on it seemed to go alot more in my favor, although saying that Nathan's sophie castawell's and suit version of zala moon did some serious damage. in the last few rounds i managed to flood the field and take control of his zone 1 and 2 which let me take the game.
Finals Jack
The forward pass, thats one of the best thinks about this game sometime you can throw in tactics from other areas of life, sports for example

My stating hand was'nt that great and even after muliganing 2 i still ended up with at least 3 majors in my hand which in the end would one of the reasons for my eventual defeat. in round 2 as lead player i decided to play the pendulum in my zone 1 a risk but at that point thought a good one as long as i could get a hero into zone one it would leave me in a lot better position than having to use any heros in zone 2. using a move i first tried in my game against Ryan i played a hero to zone 1 and passed the pendulum upfield to zone 3 where another of my heros were waiting, on my next go that hero moved it forward to zone 4, i could have moved it zone 5 but safety seemed better than trying to pull out a few extra points. the move worked for a few rounds however Jack came back forcing me to ditch 2 cards to one of my monsters to kill a very big threat, while the cards lost were not going to be able to be played that round anyway it still left me 2 cards down and after he dropped the new lock lambert and got a minor back there was not much chance of a comeback.
final position 2nd, which I'm quite happy with i got a shauna and wind playmat and my boosters gave me some quite good cards, its also quite nice to see that the game is quite open and anyone can take first place if they try hard enough
So that was the omens and legacies prerelease it seemed to go well and everyone seemed to have a good day, everyone disbanded beginning there journeys to the next locations and the missions that would come with them, or home..actually that seems more likely.
until next time
