okay well shock troops are alright but they can be killed easily and need upgrades to make them effective and a commader go accompany them

btw aaron i gave my cousin my SM bcos he is the one that influenced to start, also you are starting orcs?

at my cousins new shool in fleet they have a warhammer fantsy and 40k club.

Its true Orks are better when they out number the opponent and generally they will cos their points cost is low per model.

Although Orks dont have great BS it doesnt actually mean they arnt very good at shooting. Some of the Ork weaponry doesnt require you to roll a hit dice - such as the Kustom Mega Blastas. The sheer number of shoots an Ork has can also offset their bad BS - Big Shooters have 3 shoots, at Strength 5. Many of the Ork weapons are also Assualt rather then Heavy like the Rokit Launcher thats Assualt 1 Strength 8. Ok you need a 5 to hit but it means you dont have to sit back like the Space Marines with their Heavy Weapons!

Orks however do excel at Combat with +1 Strength on the charge and +1 Initiative. If they are armed with Sluggas (Assualt 1 Str 4) they will acually get 4 attacks each on the charge. So if you have 20 in a squad thats 80 attacks on the charge.

You have to however bear in mind that Orks have a low Initiative (I) meaning they sometimes have to attack last. Another way to boost you Orks is too include a Ork Nob in the Squad (mob) as a sergeant model. Amring him with a Power Fist/Uge Chopper makes him pretty scary. On the carge he will have 5 attacks allowing either no armour saves for Power Claw or Str 7 with the Uge Chopper...Ouchy.. kit him out with Eavy Armour to gain a 4+ save and with his two wounds hes pretty sustainable..

A good ploy to stop him dying quick in combat s to keep him near the middle or back of the unit so when you charge he doesnt get in to base contact but is within 2" of the enemy this way he gets all his attacks and cant be targeted attacks on from the opponents...LOL
